Project Description

The Rotary Club of Patan Durbar Square, in collaboration with the Self Help Group for Cerebral Palsy (SGCP) (CP Center), organized a two-day health camp in Biratnagar on 13th and 14th August 2025, led by Rtn. Dr. Pragya Karmacharya Rajbhandari, Club President 2025–26. The camp aimed to promote maternal and child health, disease prevention, and treatment for children with Cerebral Palsy from economically underprivileged families.
A total of 50 children participated. The multidisciplinary team included Rtn. Dr. Pragya Karmacharya Rajbhandari, Physiotherapist Ms. Sarana Shrestha Suwal, EEG Technician Ms. Ava Dhungana, and Rehabilitation Facilitator Ms. Gita Khawas from SGCP. All children received neuro-pediatric consultation, management, and physiotherapy/behavior therapy sessions. Many suffered from seizure disorders, severe pain due to stiffness, and behavioral issues, all of which were evaluated and treated by Dr. Pragya. 13 children underwent EEG tests, five children received free medications, and all parents were counseled on home care and child management. 15 children were selected for one-month residential program in SGCP for seizure management, management of complication due to cerebral palsy, to train (Parents training) physiotherapy, behavior therapy, speech-therapy and occupational therapy based on need of child and also psychological assessment and counselling of both parents and children focusing on mental health.
The camp successfully provided comprehensive medical and therapeutic care, early intervention, and parental guidance, contributing to the improved quality of life for children with Cerebral Palsy.
